An Iconic VIVRE Couture Gown
in 2016 we began the process of creating one of our most iconic dresses to date: Midnight Bloom. This beautiful, hand painted, sweetheart gown is truly one of a kind. Carefully crafted to resemble the depths of the ocean and the movement of marine life, this dress was one of the first canvas masterpieces by Vivre Couture. Take a closer look at the process of bringing this one of a kind design to life.
This dress started with a simple sketch. this was one of the first large gowns we had planned to create. the concept needed to be approved by the artist, Sarah LaPierre. LaPierre knew it would be a challenge with it being so full in the skirt, but believed painting on a this size dress would be possible and oh so fabulous! The next step was for Designer, Kristen Alyce, to cut the pattern in the sample size needed. The dress went through multiple fittings to make sure it fit like a glove. Once the seamstress perfected the details, The full canvas gown was sent off to LaPierre to be painted one brush stroke and palette knife movement at a time! To attain the desired look, the artwork on the dress was done with heavy acrylic paint on the canvas using both brushes and palette knives. It was topped off with a glow-in-the-dark phosphorescent paint throughout each jellyfish.
Once the artist worked her magic, we were able to send the dress off to our showroom in los Angeles, where Christina Ochoa’s stylist found her the perfect gown for the red carpet at the Oceana Gala.
Midnight Bloom was the first full body gown we had created with canvas. The process to create such a beautiful and unique gown took about 2 years from initial creation to the final destination of the Red Carpet in LA. The creation of this particular canvas Gown was one we will treasure forever. “Midnight Bloom” has made its way across magazine covers, red carpets, and top runways in New York!
